The Medical Assistant will perform rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. They will assist providers with procedures, perform lab-related duties including venipuncture and specimen collection, and administer medications and vaccines. Additional duties may include medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals. The role requires cross-training for duties relevant to the specialty or clinic practice within the Medical Assistant scope. Effective communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation are essential. The Medical Assistant must maintain a clean work environment, ensure instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately, and keep areas stocked. This role requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding growth and development principles and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
