Assist physicians with medical procedures in office. Responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. This role requires meticulous attention to detail in performing laboratory blood work, blood draws, and adhering to specimen handling and processing procedures. The Medical Assistant will prepare slides for evaluation, manage outside lab submissions, and maintain essential logs and records. A strong understanding of patient identification policies and procedures is crucial. The position involves obtaining vital signs, documenting patient information in the EMR system, and preparing patients for physician examinations. Responsibilities also include receiving and documenting lab reports, assisting with various medical procedures, and scheduling external tests and referrals. Thorough documentation in medical records, preparation of encounter forms for billing, and maintaining supply inventory are key aspects of this role. The Medical Assistant will also be responsible for troubleshooting instrument malfunctions, performing EKG testing, and ensuring laboratory compliance with state and federal regulations. This includes performing compliance testing, obtaining necessary continuing education units (CEUs), observing safety guidelines, and maintaining laboratory cleanliness. Adherence to all federal and state laws, as well as company policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality, is mandatory. The role may involve training new employees and working at various AON locations, including overtime when required.
