About The Position

A Medical Assistant provides quality patient care by assisting the physician with clinic specific tasks, including rooming, vitals, injections, and point of care testing and treatment. The Medical Assistant follows Madison Medical specific standards of practice, policies and procedures. This full time position reports to the Clinic Supervisor/Regional Director of Clinic Operations, and is located in Mequon, WI.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program, or military equivalent, or demonstrated skills in capacity for at least one year
  • Current CPR certification
  • Strong data entry skills and ability to work with computer applications
  • Organized with a strong attention to detail in a fast paced environment
  • Strong and comfortable communicating with patients, peers, and physicians
  • Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and with co-workers in a team
  • Drive to provide excellent patient service and care in an environment with significant and frequent opportunities to effectively resolve problems and conflict situations

Nice To Haves

  • Current Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam room, complete a brief history and obtain vital signs if needed.
  • Perform point of care testing as part of the rooming and patient intake process.
  • Set up and assist provider with clinic performed procedures.
  • Stay current with electronic health record changes and document patient information in the electronic health record.
  • Keeps up with the flow of operational needs to ensure the best and timely care for patients – manages phone calls and messages efficiently, checks EHR and email regularly, handles prior authorizations and refills, and effectively triages phone calls.
  • Organize and prepare exam rooms for patient care.
  • Provide patient education and counsel patients regarding their diagnosis and treatment.
  • Manage incoming phone calls, prior authorizations, medication refills and communicate biopsy and test results to patients.
  • Schedule appointments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
