About The Position

The Medical Assistant, Western Dakota plays a key role in supporting providers and clinical staff in delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered care within the outpatient clinic setting. This position contributes to a well-coordinated, team-oriented environment where collaboration, clear communication, and mutual support help ensure a smooth and organized daily workflow. Responsibilities include assisting with patient intake, performing basic clinical tasks, and helping coordinate clinic operations to maintain efficiency and consistency. The Medical Assistant also supports accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and high-quality service delivery, all while working closely with a supportive care team committed to positive patient outcomes and Trinity Health standards.

Requirements

  • Current North Dakota State registration as UAP Medical Assistant Registration or certification as a Medication Assistant III by ND Board of Nursing
  • CPR certification required within orientation period
  • Ongoing Point of Care certifications as required for department
  • One year or more of MA experience preferred
  • Clinic experience preferred
  • Coding experience preferred
  • May require travel to satellites
  • Computer use
  • The Medical Assistant, Western Dakota is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and move between exam rooms while assisting patients and supporting clinical activities.
  • The role includes lifting or assisting patients, handling supplies, and moving equipment of light to moderate weight.
  • Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are necessary for patient interaction, performing clinical tasks, and accurate documentation.
  • Work is performed in an outpatient clinic environment with exposure to patients, clinical equipment, and cleaning agents.
  • The role may involve contact with infectious diseases, blood, and body fluids, requiring adherence to standard precautions.
  • The position requires consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment and the ability to function effectively during periods of increased patient volume and activity.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for visits by obtaining vital signs, updating medical histories, and assisting with rooming in accordance with clinic protocols.
  • Perform delegated clinical tasks such as point-of-care testing, specimen collection, and documentation within scope of practice.
  • Maintain exam rooms, clinical equipment, and supply levels to ensure readiness and efficiency for daily patient care activities.
  • Support scheduling, referrals, and coordination of care by communicating with patients, providers, and internal departments.
  • Document patient information accurately in the electronic health record while maintaining compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with general clinic operations, including stocking supplies, supporting workflow needs, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
