About The Position

Provides technical, supportive care and services to patients according to the instructions of the treating Physician and the Clinic’s policies and procedures. The incumbent is expected to work in accordance with the mission, purpose, and values of the Colusa Indian Community Council.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months of experience working in similar setting;
  • Medical Assistant certification from an accredited school;
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for medical exam taking vital signs and symptom history;
  • Observe and document patients’ physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs and response to care plan. Considers diagnosis, age, sex, language ability, care setting and desire for care;
  • Assist physician with planning and communicating with other professionals involved in the patient’s care;
  • Provide competent support services including specimen collections, CLIA waived tests, blood draws, immunizations, etc. as directed by the treating physician;
  • Incumbent is required to act as a translator for the medical provider when needed;
  • Document services provided in medical record and complete required billing/reporting systems;
  • Provide patient and family members with educational materials as directed by physician;
  • Maintain medical records according to policy/procedure and regulatory standards; laboratory and referral logs as per protocols; medication sample and immunization logs daily; clinical supplies necessary for the delivery of identified scope of care in the clinic;
  • Perform scheduled clinic QA audits as assigned;
  • Cross trains to perform medical receptionist duties;
  • Assist Management Team with development of operational policies and procedures;
  • Collaborate with all coworkers in performing duties required to provide patient-focused services that meet all regulatory and licensing standards;
  • Update each patient’s chart, to include medication, update, allergy and preventative care: lab work, last well women exam, mammogram, colonoscopy, etc.;
  • Maintain high confidentiality standards at all times. Is required to sign a confidentiality statement upon acceptance of employment;
  • May perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position.
