This full-time Medical Assistant position is with Atrium Health Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine Northeast. The role involves adhering to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, following all policies and procedures, and maintaining training and competency. Key responsibilities include performing rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. The Medical Assistant will also assist providers with procedures, perform lab-related duties including venipuncture and specimen collection, and conduct Point of Care testing (POCT). Additionally, the role includes administering medications and vaccines safely, completing tasks such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals. Cross-training for duties relevant to specialty or clinic practice is expected. The position requires effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation. Maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately, and ensuring equipment and supplies are in working order and areas are stocked are also crucial. The Medical Assistant must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding the principles of growth and development over the life span and possessing the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information for age-specific needs.
