About The Position

Performs basic nursing skills and/or serves under the direction and supervision of the practice physician and/or registered nursing staff. The position supports orthopedic practice operations by preparing patients and exam rooms, assisting providers with examinations and procedures, maintaining equipment and required quality-control logs, and completing patient-facing and office administrative tasks. The role is scheduled for 40 hours per week and may require travel between facilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or one year of experience in a clinical setting.
Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
Ability to use and care for equipment, including printers, embossers, and computers.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients.
Ability to adapt to changing environments.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Able to meet medium-work physical demands: exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
Able to bend, stoop, reach, rotate normally, and stand and walk during an 8–12-hour shift.

Nice To Haves

Completion of healthcare education coursework.
One year of healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

Greet and escort patients to exam rooms; obtain initial information and vital signs in preparation for physician visits.
Prepare exam rooms, maintaining cleanliness and ensuring supplies are available.
Assist with and/or perform examinations, tests, and procedures.
Schedule appointments and arrange referral contacts as needed.
Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures.
Educate patients about follow-up expectations.
Maintain quality-control testing logs as required.
Ensure medical equipment is in proper working condition.
Assist patients with completing medical documentation.
Perform office administrative tasks, including answering phones, taking messages, copying, printing, data entry, assisting with cash deposits, and other closing duties.
