Requirements

  • High School or equivalent.
  • Graduate of Medical Assistant program OR 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Certification Preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPIC Ambulatory Preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting physicians and nurses in patient and family care by completing assigned patient care tasks.
  • Providing competent, safe, and compassionate care, understanding the challenges of hospitalization, procedures, or diagnostic tests.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Assisting with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas, including escorting patients.
  • Obtaining vital signs, weights, and EKGs; assisting with blood collection (phlebotomy).
  • Ensuring patient charts are prepared with relevant lab work and test reports for physician review.
  • Assisting physicians with procedures (e.g., GI procedures, all medical exams).
  • Ensuring exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned and prepared after each patient.
  • Assisting with light housekeeping duties, including spills.
  • Assisting patients with food, toileting, ambulating, and maintaining comfort.
  • Assuring completion of patient charges per policy.
  • Cleaning and sterilizing designated equipment after use.
  • Answering telephones in the treatment area and assisting staff with scheduling treatments.
  • Assisting patients and communicating with physicians for prescription renewals.
  • Stocking exam/treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms.
  • Assisting with training new Medical Assistants.
  • Performing administrative responsibilities as needed.
