About The Position

Mass General Brigham Medical Group Northern Massachusetts, Inc. is seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to work 8-hour shifts between the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. This role is at a busy primary care practice, staffed by 7 Medical Assistants, 3 nurses, 5 primary care physicians, 3 nurse practitioners, and front desk staff. While the practice includes some specialty services, this Medical Assistant will support primary care only. The ideal candidate will have prior Medical Assistant training in an outpatient, primary care setting. This role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Direct MA experience or medical field work 0-1 year preferred
  • Medical Assistant Course or diploma program or a minimum of 1 year professional experience
  • National MA Certification via AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT
  • Epic experience
  • Ambulatory/Outpatient experience

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant - preferred

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Show patients to examination rooms and prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers.
  • Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms.
  • Acts as a liaison with other departments and advocates for patients with a positive customer service approach.
  • Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean and supplies stocked.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
