About The Position

UW Medical Center-Northwest Outpatient Medical Center’s OB/GYN clinic is hiring a Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C). The clinic provides obstetrics and gynecology care, including wellness exams, pregnancy care, minimally invasive surgery, family planning, nutritional counseling, menopause care, and screening and treatment for gynecologic conditions. The position is full-time at 100% FTE (40 hours per week), Monday through Friday on the day shift. The role supports patient care by assisting providers, performing clinical tasks, and coordinating communication between patients, families, and providers.

Requirements

Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by CAAHEP, ABHES, or another recognized regional or national accreditation board, or equivalent.
Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified designation, or ability to achieve it within six months of hire; failure to achieve or maintain the designation will result in termination.
Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except where legal requirements, such as licensure, certification, or registration, apply.

Responsibilities

Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records.
Perform injections.
Prepare and clean exam rooms.
Submit medication prior authorizations.
Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report them to a provider.
Act as a liaison between patients, their families, and providers.
Assist providers with procedures and medical exams.
Perform point-of-care testing and report abnormal laboratory values.
Assist in transporting patients as required.
