About The Position

UW Medical Center-Northwest's Emergency Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified. This is a part-time, 90% FTE (36 hours per week) position with mid shifts, consisting of three 12-hour shifts. The schedule includes a mix of 11 am-11:30 pm and 3 pm-3:30 am shifts, offering shift differential pay and ideal for those seeking work outside regular clinic hours. Requirements

Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

Perform Point-of-Care (POC) Testing, splinting, and wound care
Assist patients to exam room and documents patient history, medications and vital signs
Prepare and clean exam rooms
Assist RN with triage process
Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
Transport patients within hospital departments
