About The Position

Gastroenterology of Ocean County is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant, primarily based in Brick, New Jersey, with some workdays at its Toms River and Forked River locations. The Medical Assistant supports healthcare providers by carrying out clinical and administrative tasks, interacting directly with patients, preparing patients for examinations, and taking vital signs. The role also involves sterilizing instruments, maintaining clean examination rooms, processing specimens, managing patient communications and appointments, and maintaining confidential records. The Medical Assistant works with nurse practitioners and other healthcare staff to support high-quality patient care and efficient clinical operations.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience working in a medical office or healthcare environment.
Basic knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization procedures.
Medical assisting skills.
Ability to draw blood and take vital signs.

Nice To Haves

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
Assist healthcare providers, including nurse practitioners, during medical procedures and examinations.
Sterilize medical instruments and maintain clean examination rooms in compliance with health regulations.
Manage patient communications by answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing information as needed.
