The Medical Assistant will provide care for newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric populations. Responsibilities include pre-visit planning with the provider and care team, following patient intake procedures, medication administration (including injections), checking vital signs, reviewing medication history, assisting with health maintenance requirements, performing Point of Care testing (POCT), utilizing standard precautions, reporting patient conditions, assisting with prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorizations. The role also involves electronic documentation of care, completing CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests, performing Quality Control and maintenance for Point of Care lab procedures, performing venipuncture, assisting with specimen collection, completing lab requisitions, preparing specimens for pick-up, monitoring inventory of medications and emergency equipment, and tracking laboratory and diagnostic tests. The position requires adherence to CLIA standards and regulatory agency standards.
