About The Position

The HealthCare Connection (THCC) is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their mission-driven team. THCC, founded in 1967, was Ohio’s first Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and is dedicated to providing quality and accessible primary healthcare services. They operate two primary care locations and six school-based health centers, serving over 20,000 patients with services including Primary Care, Infectious Disease, Substance Use, Integrated Behavioral Health, Dental Services, Women’s Health, and Pharmacy. THCC is recognized as a Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). This Medical Assistant role supports providers and nurses in delivering high-quality care to children and adolescents, with responsibilities such as preparing patients for exams, taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, administering vaccines, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Requirements

  • Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program
  • Active CPR certification
  • Proven computer skills a must
  • Excellent communication and customer service
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and relate to persons from diverse educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of experience in community health nursing setting or private physician practice.
  • Experience working with electronic health records
  • Experience working with persons of diverse educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting providers with direct patient care including: interviewing the patient and documenting vitals and medical concerns and conditions
  • Conducting requested screening/tests
  • Drawing blood and administering shots to patients
  • Responding to telephone inquiries
  • Maintaining equipment and supplies in exam rooms and office
  • Completing encounter forms and code as necessary
  • Conducting referrals for patients
  • Performing other duties necessary to provide excellent patient care to the patients and to support our providers
