About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) in an Ambulatory Wound Center is an unlicensed clinical team member who provides supportive patient care services under the direct delegation and supervision of a licensed provider (MD, DO, NP, PA, etc.). The MA supports wound center operations by performing delegated clinical tasks, assisting with procedures, collecting patient data, administering select treatments, and competency validation, and signed provider orders. Medical Assistants do not perform assessments, triage, clinical decision making, or invasive wound procedures.

Requirements

  • High school graduate, minimum required.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant training program
  • Medical terminology required.
  • Ability to work under provider delegation in an outpatient ambulatory setting
  • Current BLS/CPR certification

Nice To Haves

  • Externship of at least 100 hours or 6 months previous office/OP setting experience preferred.
  • Certified or non-certified Medical Assistants permitted, per organizational policy
  • Medical Assisting certificate preferred.
