About The Position

Mercy Clinic Women's Health is seeking a compassionate and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our growing team. In this role, you will support providers in delivering exceptional care to women across various stages of life, including preventive care, gynecologic services, and reproductive health. The Medical Assistant serves as a vital member of the care team by providing both clinical and administrative support in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner while upholding Mercy's mission of compassionate care and service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of Mercy MA Clinic Academy training upon hire.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn EHR systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • One year of previous Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient, OB/GYN, women's health, or ambulatory care setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience with electronic health record documentation.
  • Knowledge of women's health procedures, terminology, and patient care practices.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients in a welcoming and professional manner.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, chief complaints, and pertinent patient information.
  • Collect, verify, and update medical histories, medication lists, and demographic information.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Assist providers during gynecologic exams, procedures, and office-based treatments.
  • Perform basic diagnostic testing, including urine testing, glucose testing, EKGs, and other approved procedures, as deemed competent.
  • Accurately document patient care and provider instructions in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Reinforce patient education and follow-up instructions provided by the provider or nurse.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and stocking of exam rooms and clinical areas.
  • Follow infection prevention, patient safety, OSHA, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments, diagnostic testing, and specialist referrals.
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries appropriately.
  • Support patient check-in and check-out processes.
  • Manage electronic communications, faxing, scanning, and medical records documentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings.
  • Perform additional duties within the Medical Assistant scope of practice and clinic needs.
