Under the general supervision of the practice supervisor, guided by the policies and procedures of the Transplant Service, the Department of Surgery, and Ambulatory Services, the Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting the transplant clinical areas, including liver, kidney, and non-transplant surgery clinics. The incumbent projects a professional and courteous demeanor and is required to comply with Medical Center House and Telephone Standards. In support of the abdominal transplant program, the incumbent will: Schedule new and follow-up appointments. Demonstrate competence with medication refills, maintaining standing lab orders, and other duties as assigned under the direction of the clinician. Demonstrate understanding of the prior authorization process for post-transplant medications and procedures and ensure all authorizations are in place prior to appointments. Perform routine clinic duties, including obtaining vital signs, weight, and medication review. Work collaboratively with clinical staff, including Medical Assistants, LVNs, RNs, Physicians, and Advanced Practice Providers.
