About The Position

Baystate Health, in partnership with Holyoke Community College (HCC), is offering a Medical Assistant Training Program. This is an earn-while-you-learn opportunity for individuals seeking a career in healthcare. Participants will be hired as Medical Assistant Trainees, receive paid training and full benefits, complete their education and externship, obtain Medical Assistant registration/certification, and transition into a permanent Medical Assistant I role with Baystate Health. Throughout the program, trainees are employees of Baystate Health, earning pay, benefits, and experience from the start. Medical Assistants are crucial to patient care, performing tasks such as taking vital signs, patient histories, clinical procedures, managing documentation, and assisting with patient discharge and education in a supportive, team-based environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• A resume is required with application
• Experience in direct patient care or experience working in a medical office required
• Education: GED or HiSET (Required)
• Certifications: Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
• Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant - Other

Responsibilities

• Complete Medical Assistant coursework through Holyoke Community College
• Participate in a hands-on externship at a Baystate Medical Practice
• Prepare for and obtain Medical Assistant registration/certification
• Transition into a Medical Assistant I role within Baystate Health upon satisfactory program completion and obtaining certification
• Taking vital signs and patient histories
• Performing clinical procedures and supporting providers
• Managing clinical documentation and orders
• Assisting with patient discharge and education
