About The Position

The Medical Assistant In Training role is an entry-level position designed to provide hands-on exposure to both clinical and administrative responsibilities in a healthcare setting. Under close supervision, you will observe and assist medical assistants and providers while learning key skills such as patient care, documentation, and office operations. This role is ideal for individuals exploring a future career in healthcare and looking to gain real-world experience in a clinical environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/equivalent required
  • Maryland resident
  • Individuals eligible for the Maryland Service Year Program (generally ages 18–24)
  • No prior experience required
  • Current BLS (CPR) certification required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong communication and willingness to learn
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
  • Interest in healthcare and patient care
  • Ability to interact professionally with patients and staff

Responsibilities

  • Observe and assist medical assistants with clinical tasks such as taking vital signs and preparing patients
  • Support administrative duties including answering phones and scheduling
  • Perform follow-up calls to patients as directed by providers
  • Help coordinate patient appointments, tests, and referrals
  • Prepare exam rooms by cleaning, stocking, and organizing supplies
  • Assist with cleaning and sterilizing instruments and disposing of contaminated materials
  • Support general office and clinic operations
