About The Position

A Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical and clerical functions, in accordance with established policies and procedures, to assist the practitioners and management in daily office operations. In this role, you will: Educate and prepare patients for GYN Oncology Urology procedures, including reviewing preparation instructions, answering questions, and ensuring patient understanding and compliance. Observe the patient’s condition, report abnormal conditions to the staff nurse, and record appropriate documentation in the patient’s records. Measure and record patient height and weight, perform routine vision and hearing examinations, and take pulse and blood pressure readings. Draw blood from patients and/or perform finger sticks and obtain other specimens as physician or registered nurse requested. Assist with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles in creating and maintaining a sterile field during procedures. Maintain stock items for examination and blood drawing rooms, forms used by clinical staff, etc. Performs clerical and secretarial work as needed. Interacts with patients and colleagues in accordance with institutional service excellence standards. Performs other job-related duties as require

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • America Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required within 30 days of employment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant training program
  • Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA-CMA, AMT-RMA)
  • Minimum of one year experience as a Medical Assistant preferably in an outpatient setting
