A Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical and clerical functions, in accordance with established policies and procedures, to assist the practitioners and management in daily office operations. This is a full‑time, Monday–Friday day shift position (36.25 hours weekly), the hours varied from 8am - 6pm. The role is primarily based at our Fresh Meadows location. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • America Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required within 30 days of employment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant training program
  • Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA-CMA, AMT-RMA)
  • Minimum of one year experience as a Medical Assistant preferably in an outpatient setting
  • Bilingual Spanish/Chinese preferred

Responsibilities

  • Educate and prepare patients for medical procedures, including reviewing preparation instructions, answering questions, and ensuring patient understanding and compliance.
  • Observe the patient’s condition, report abnormal conditions to the staff nurse, and record appropriate documentation in the patient’s records.
  • Measure and record patient height and weight, perform routine vision and hearing examinations, and take pulse and blood pressure readings.
  • Draw blood from patients and/or perform finger sticks and obtain other specimens as physician or registered nurse requested.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles in creating and maintaining a sterile field during procedures.
  • Maintain stock items for examination and blood drawing rooms, forms used by clinical staff, etc.
  • Performs clerical and secretarial work as needed.
  • Interacts with patients and colleagues in accordance with institutional service excellence standards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as require
