The Medical Assistant Supervisor plays a crucial role in coordinating a team of medical assistants, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient operations. Working within the Patient-Centered Medical Home model, this position involves systematically analyzing patient health information to identify and coordinate care needs, focusing on continuity of care. The supervisor is responsible for overseeing proactive care coordination for patients with chronic conditions and identifying wellness and preventative service opportunities. Direct supervision of Medical Assistants ensures procedural consistency and high clinical outcomes. The fast-paced environment requires strong multitasking abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and effective stress management. The Medical Assistant Supervisor embodies a positive, optimistic, and committed attitude, collaborating effectively with medical, dental, behavioral health, and administrative team members. Clinical and administrative oversight is provided by the Nursing Department leadership team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program and is currently certified/registered.
  • 3 years of medical assisting experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with public and other staff persons.
  • Strong customer relations and communication skills with a proven record of customer service excellence.
  • Articulate telephone voice, legible penmanship, reasonable spelling skills and proficient computer skills.
  • Able to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple activities and tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use sound judgment.
  • Ability to handle stress related to demanding or difficult patients/team members, competing priorities, and changing processes.
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity.
  • Proven computer and EHR skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates a team of medical assistants, providing instruction, training, coordination, and support.
  • Works within the Patient Centered Medical Home model to systematically analyze patient health information to identify and coordinate the care needs of the individual patient focusing on the continuity of care.
  • Manages and tracks coordination of pro-active care for patients with chronic conditions.
  • Identifies wellness and/or preventative service for clinical patients.
  • Performs direct supervision of all Medical Assistants within the care team to assure consistency in procedures and high clinical outcomes.
  • Demonstrates the ability to multitask in a fast-paced work setting.
  • Works collaboratively with medical, dental, behavioral health, and administrative team members.
