About The Position

The Medical Assistant/Scribe functions as a member of the patient care team, contributing to the health management of the patients; performs a variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for Clinic patients, many in assistance to section physicians and under the direction and supervision of the Patient Care Manager; maintains primary responsibility for all technical procedures and the operation and care of the nursing unit in the department. Assisting physician in maintaining EMR.

Requirements

• Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with the public.
• Current CPR certification.
• Ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day.
• Ability to lift, move and transport patients, equipment and supplies.
• Motor coordination and manual dexterity.
• Articulate speech.
• Ability to read and understand orders.
• Visual acuity and ability to distinguish colors.
• Attendance is an essential function of the job.

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from an approved medical assistant program or medical assistant training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the health management of patients.
• Perform a variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for Clinic patients.
• Assist section physicians.
• Operate and care for the nursing unit in the department.
• Assist physician in maintaining EMR.
• Perform ABI, EKGs, Rhythm strips, Pulmonary Function Testing, Tympanometry, CDL/DOT, 6 foot hearing and visual testing with form completion, Oxymetry, Diabetic Foot Exams including testing for PVD and Neuropathy with monofilament and vibratory testing.
