About The Position

This is a PRN position that floats to multiple sites. New York Oncology Hematology (NYOH) is the Capital Region's leader in cancer care and blood disorders. Their team includes 35 board-certified physicians and more than 300 cancer care specialists, all working together across medical oncology, radiation oncology, hematology and gynecologic oncology and surgery. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 0-3 years’ experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
  • Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Responds to patients’ calls as requested.
  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing, chart preparation, medical paperwork (FMLA, PFL), etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.
  • Alerts nurse/physician of abnormal vitals, any important information given by patient.
