Performs a wide variety of patient care tasks utilizing a Patient Focused Care model. Follows standardized procedures prescribed in a clinical pathway, including activities related to direct care, diagnostic testing, patient transport and documentation, as directed by RN.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate and completion of an accredited course of training in Medical Assisting and training in Phlebotomy.
  • CPR certification
  • Must be able to take vital signs, knowledgeable in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
  • Familiarity with medical equipment common to a medical practice.
  • Must be willing to be floated or reassigned to another department, unit, office, or location as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care to patients under supervision/direction of the registered nurse
  • Performs a wide variety of tasks using a patient centered model inclusive but not limited to: Assist with Bathing / Personal Hygiene
  • Assists with ambulation, lifting and repositioning of patient
  • Assists with feeding
  • Assist with toileting
  • Assists with vital signs
  • Weights
  • Safety checks
  • Exhibits knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care
  • Exhibits knowledge of principles of growth and development for patient groups served
  • Demonstrates knowledge of providing care for specific population / age
  • Demonstrates knowledge of computer skills
  • Accurately updates patient health information in EHR.
