Preferred Primary Care Physicians is seeking a Full-Time Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant for their office in Scott Township. The role involves both phlebotomy and back-office medical assistant duties, including rooming patients, taking vitals, administering injections, and triage when necessary. Requirements

  • Phlebotomy Certification or at least 2 years' experience with phlebotomy blood draws.
  • Agreeable to completing back office medical assistant duties.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of medical assistant.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam or treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Records all patient data prior to the physician or nurse seeing the patient, including vital signs, height and weight, allergies, medications, chief complaint, reason for visit, etc.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as directed by the physician.
  • Answers and returns patient phone calls as directed.
  • Is responsible for contacting pharmacies for prescriptions or may answer patient telephone calls for referrals.
  • May handle other patient telephone calls as directed by the physician, nurse or Office Manager.
  • Obtains all necessary patient record information, lab data, diagnostics, consults, etc. as required by the physician or nurse for assessment of the patient's medical status.
  • Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed in accordance with OSHA and universal safety precautions.
  • Assists with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Assists with scheduling tests, procedures or appointments to follow-up on test results.
  • Prepares, maintains and stocks exam and treatment rooms.
  • Orders supplies as needed.
  • Obtains new patient information and any test results.
  • Assists with administrative duties such as typing, faxing, reception duties, etc.
  • Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedule or no-shows.
  • Assists with delegated patient education activities including but not limited to distributing educational literature, etc.
  • Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the physician, nurse or office manager.
