About The Position

Preferred Primary Care Physicians is seeking a Full-Time Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant for their office located at 3212 Main St Fl 2, Munhall PA, 15120. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting physicians and nurses with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. This role may also involve appointment scheduling and electronic chart management. The position requires a Phlebotomy Certification or at least 2 years of phlebotomy experience, and the candidate must be willing to perform back-office medical assistant duties such as rooming patients, taking vitals, administering injections, and triaging patients when necessary.

Requirements

  • Phlebotomy Certification or at least 2 years of experience with phlebotomy blood draws.
  • Agreeable to completing back office medical assistant duties.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of medical assistant.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting preferred.
  • Open to new graduate applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam or treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Records all patient data prior to the physician or nurse seeing the patient, including vital signs, height and weight, allergies, medications, chief complaint, and reason for visit.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as directed by the physician.
  • Answers and returns patient phone calls as directed, contacts pharmacies for prescriptions, and may answer other patient telephone calls as directed.
  • Obtains all necessary patient record information, lab data, diagnostics, consults, etc., as required by the physician or nurse for assessment of the patient's medical status.
  • Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed in accordance with OSHA and universal safety precautions.
  • Assists with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Assists with scheduling tests, procedures, or appointments to follow up on test results.
  • Prepares, maintains, and stocks exam and treatment rooms.
  • Orders supplies as needed.
  • Obtains new patient information and any test results.
  • Assists with administrative duties such as typing, faxing, and reception duties.
  • Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedule or no-shows.
  • Assists with delegated patient education activities, including distributing educational literature.
  • Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the physician, nurse, or office manager.
