About The Position
The Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant will work in the Evanston Kellogg Cancer Center, providing essential support to the physician practice. This role involves a mix of administrative and clinical tasks, ensuring a smooth patient experience from check-in to check-out. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a Monday-Friday schedule and no weekends or holidays. Endeavor Health is a large, integrated healthcare system dedicated to providing quality, community-connected care across six northeast Illinois counties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience required
- One year of work experience required
- CPR certification through the American Heart Association required
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred
- Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred
- Previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred
Responsibilities
- Answer phones
- Schedule appointments
- Collect co-payments
- Complete patient registration
- Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
- Check in and check out patients
- Verify insurances
- Greet patients and escort them to exam room
- Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
- Provide front office support as needed
- Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
- Phlebotomy and injections may be required
