Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant (MA/PSA) - Medical Group Plastic Surgery
About The Position
The Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant (MA/PSA) will work in a physician practice within the Medical Group Plastic Surgery department. This role is responsible for a variety of administrative and clinical support tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the practice and provide excellent patient care. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Endeavor Health is a large, integrated healthcare system dedicated to providing quality care across six counties in northeast Illinois, with a mission to help communities be their best.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience required
- CPR certification through the American Heart Association required
- One year of work experience required
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program preferred
- Medical Assistant Certification (AMT, AAMA, ARMA, CCMA, CMA, MAC, AMCA) preferred
- Previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred
Responsibilities
- Answer phones
- Schedule appointments
- Collect co-payments
- Complete patient registration
- Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
- Check in and check out patients
- Verify insurances
- Greet patients and escort them to exam room
- Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
- Provide front office support as needed
- Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
- Phlebotomy and injections may be required
