About The Position
The Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant role at the Evanston Cancer Center is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with hours typically between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. This role does not require weekend or holiday work. The position involves providing administrative and clinical support to a physician practice within the oncology department. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience, required
- CPR certification through the American Heart Association required
- One year of work experience required
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred
- Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred
- Previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred
- On the job training is provided for those who do not have previous medical assistant training or experience.
Responsibilities
- Answer phones
- Schedule appointments
- Collect co-payments
- Complete patient registration
- Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
- Check in and check out patients
- Verify insurances
- Greet patients and escort them to exam room
- Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
- Provide front office support as needed
- Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
- Phlebotomy and injections may be required
