About The Position
This position is for a Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant in the Cancer Center at Evanston Hospital. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a Monday-Friday schedule. The Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant will be responsible for various administrative and clinical support tasks within the physician practice, including patient registration, appointment scheduling, co-payment collection, and basic vital sign documentation. Phlebotomy and injections may also be required. The organization, Endeavor Health, is a large integrated healthcare delivery system committed to quality care and community connection.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
- CPR certification through the American Heart Association required
- One year of work experience required
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred.
- Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred.
- previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Answer phones
- Schedule appointments
- Collect co-payments
- Complete patient registration
- Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
- Check in and check out patients
- Verify insurances
- Greet patients and escort them to exam room
- Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
- Provide front office support as needed
- Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
- Phlebotomy and injections may be required
