About The Position
Franciscan Health is seeking a Medical Assistant or LPN for their Indianapolis Cityway Health Campus. This role is crucial for supporting clinical duties in multiple ambulatory clinics. The position involves assisting providers and staff with patient care coordination, appointment scheduling, executing physician orders, electronic medical record entry, and acting as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers. Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED Required
- Program Medical Assisting Required
- In lieu of program, 5 years of medical assistant experience
- Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Allied Health
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Registry of Medical Assistants
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
Responsibilities
- Rooming patients
- Taking vitals
- Obtaining a comprehensive medical history
- Documenting patient care via electronic medical record
- Administering vaccines, injections, and medications
- Phlebotomy
- Point of care testing
- Medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider
- Gathering requirements from internal and external customers and providing information via phone, electronic messaging and in person
- Initiating and following through on prior authorizations, referrals, and processing sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed
