Responsibilities

  • Triage incoming patients to determine priority and severity of conditions.
  • Obtain patient health histories and vital signs, documenting all information accurately in patient charts with close attention to current conditions.
  • Perform phlebotomy and in-house laboratory procedures and accurately record results.
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with office procedures, including laceration repairs.
  • Administer prescribed injectable and oral medications as directed and monitor patients for reactions and effectiveness.
  • Educate patients regarding illnesses, treatment plans, and medications by providing informational materials and answering questions.
  • Ensure laboratory reports are included in patient charts and reviewed by providers.
  • Obtain signed medical release forms when appropriate.
  • Adhere to established company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Report equipment malfunctions promptly to the supervisor.
  • Schedule referral appointments with patients and specialty providers as requested.
  • Assist in coordinating home health services, pre-certifications, re-certifications, and insurance pre-authorizations.
  • Operate medical equipment including: Blood pressure cuff, Tympanometer, Thermometer, Hemaque, Spirometer, Litmus testing supplies, Audio scope, Emergency equipment (ambu bag, airways, oxygen), Needles and syringes, Sigmoidoscope, Suction machine, Microscope, Nebulizers, X-ray developer, EKG equipment, Pulmonary function equipment, Holter monitor.
  • Maintain organized, clean work areas and restock supplies as needed.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and exam rooms according to established procedures.
  • Secure restricted or controlled materials including medications, needles, syringes, prescription pads, and patient medical records, ensuring access is limited to authorized personnel.
  • Follow clinic policies regarding sample medications and dispense only with signed provider authorization.
  • Dispose of infectious waste in accordance with training and safety procedures.
  • Attend required staff meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Maintain exam rooms with appropriate supplies and ensure cleanliness standards are consistently met.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations as appropriate.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Demonstrate respect, professionalism, courtesy, and advocacy in all interactions with patients, coworkers, and visitors.
  • Display a positive attitude and team-oriented approach with a willingness to assist wherever needed.
  • Maintain accurate, legible documentation using proper grammar and sentence structure.
  • Refrain from exhibiting, copying, removing, or divulging the contents of records or reports except as necessary to fulfill assigned job duties.
