About The Position

High Point & Affiliated Organizations is a health and human service agency dedicated to treating and preventing substance use disorders and mental illness. Our Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) provides methadone treatment to adults aged 18 and older with opioid use disorder, focusing on individualized care. We serve a diverse population, including men, women, pregnant women, patients with chronic illnesses, and those with co-occurring mental health disorders. Our goal is to help individuals and families achieve personal change and improve their quality of life.

Requirements

  • Must present as courteous and professional at all times.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn, use and train HPAHO`s electronic medical records.
  • Must have the ability to work with others in cooperative and collaborative manner.
  • An understanding of the relationship between substance uses and mental health issues and/or self-help programs.
  • An understanding of boundaries and ethics.
  • Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Alcohol Abuse Policy and HIPAA Regulations.
  • Certification in the HPAO approved de-escalation program.
  • CPR Certification.
  • TB screening.
  • Graduate of formal medical assistant program or CNA certification;
  • Ability to multitask and handle several responsibilities at once;
  • Knowledge of healthcare and medical terminology;
  • Proficient computer skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
  • Greet patients and monitor the dosing line.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs as needed and document.
  • Prepare patients for examination, set up equipment and assist the physician/NP during exams as needed.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests such as drawing blood and testing urines.
  • Take electrocardiograms if needed.
  • Update list of current patient medication history.
  • Assist front desk in scheduling appointments.
  • Assist biller in correcting error reports.
  • Handle correspondence under direction of provider; notify PCP.
  • Sterilize equipment as needed.
  • Maintain clean environment in all medical areas and maintain adequate medical supplies.
  • Maintain all logs such as refrigerator temperatures, emergency medication, expired medications, oxygen and supplies as directed by nursing.
  • Always utilize standard precautions.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that recognize the rights of patients/clients as defined by the patient’s right.
  • Attend all unit, facility meetings and case conferences as directed by Supervisor.
  • Attend mandatory training.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Administrator, Clinical Director, Site Director, Director of Nursing, Medical Provider, and COO.
