About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA/MA Sr) is a healthcare professional and an essential member of the patient-centered healthcare team. The MA/MA Sr is instrumental in helping the patient feel at ease while collaborating with the provider throughout the patient's visit. This role involves providing direct patient care across multiple primary care locations within the West Bend Region, offering flexibility and variety. The position is part of a dynamic Regional Float Pool Team, supporting various departments including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Internal Medicine. The role offers flexible FTE options (0.500-1.000), 8-hour shifts with flexible start times, and a Monday-Friday schedule with no weekends, holidays, or on-call duties, with schedules posted 6 weeks in advance. The Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin regional health network is a partnership focused on patient care, innovation, research, and education, operating eastern Wisconsin's only academic medical center and adult Level I Trauma center.

Requirements

• Medical Assistant (MA): High school diploma (or GED) required plus one of the following: Completion of an MA program, or Completion of an EMT-Basic course, or Trained on the job MA AND one year experience in health care, or Completion of an MA Apprentice program
• Medical Assistant (MA): American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Providers (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent required within 90 days of hire.
• Medical Assistant (MA): 1 year of healthcare experience preferred.
• Medical Assistant Senior (MA Sr): HS Diploma or GED is required.
• Medical Assistant Senior (MA Sr): American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Providers (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
• Medical Assistant Senior (MA Sr): Additionally, one of the following is required: Military Medic/Corpsman training (must also obtain one of the certifications or licenses below within 6 months of hire), or Certified/Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following: Credentialed in ABR-OE (Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or NRCMA - Medical Assistant through the National Association for Health Professionals, or CCMA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or Certified Medical Assistant through the National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE), Certified Paramedic, or Advanced EMT, or Graduated from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program and current active LPN license, or Other certification from an approved body as maintained by Froedtert Human Resources
• Medical Assistant Senior (MA Sr): 1 year of experience as medical assistant or in the field of the credential held is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• Cross-training and floating as needed to provide services across sites and to maintain optimal clinic operations
