About The Position

A Medical Assistant Float Pool position involves providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting, including those with acute and chronic needs. This role requires clear communication with patients through various modalities such as telephone and in-person interactions. The position is part-time, with 10 hours per week, and clinic hours will vary based on the clinic being covered. Some clinics operate Monday-Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, while others, like Instacare clinics, may have extended evening and weekend shifts. Requirements

  • Proof of completion of a Medical Assistant program OR at least one year of Medical Assistant work experience OR current active and in good standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in the state of Utah.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. Must be obtained prior to start date.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
  • Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver the highest level of customer/patient satisfaction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
  • Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
  • Current national MA certification from one of the following national MA certifications or registrations: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.
  • If certified with less than one year of MA experience, caregivers may attend a yearlong MA residency program (Utah Only).

Responsibilities

  • Providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting, including those with acute and chronic needs.
  • Communicating clearly with patients seeking care through different modalities including telephone and in-person interactions.
  • Assisting the provider to gather information that is relative to the patient’s visit and condition.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to collaborate on patient care.
  • Ensuring attention to detail and follow-through in providing patient care.
  • Protecting the privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI) of patients, members, and caregivers.
