About The Position

The Pain Management Clinic at Aurora West Allis Medical Center specializes in helping patients manage acute and chronic pain through comprehensive evaluation and interventional treatment approaches. The clinic is affiliated with the hospital's anesthesiology and pain management services and provides care for conditions such as back and neck pain, nerve-related pain, joint pain, and other persistent pain disorders. Patients have access to advanced pain-management techniques within a full-service medical center setting, allowing coordination with specialists, imaging, rehabilitation, and other hospital-based services when needed. As a Medical Assistant/LPN, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day. As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will welcome patients and support their transition into care, take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings, prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures, administer medications and vaccines as directed, perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing, document care accurately in the electronic health record, and partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

Requirements

  • GED or HS Equivalency Diploma.
  • MA: Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
  • LPN: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing
  • MA: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
  • Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.
