About The Position

This is a full-time position in the Geriatrics Clinic at Aurora Medical Group (AMG), part of Advocate Health. The role involves supporting providers, interacting with patients, and ensuring a smooth and compassionate patient experience. As a key member of the ambulatory care team, responsibilities include welcoming patients, taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, assisting providers, administering medications and vaccines, performing lab tasks, and documenting care in the electronic health record. The clinic is located in Greenfield, WI, and specializes in comprehensive care for older adults, focusing on healthy aging, chronic disease management, medication oversight, and preventive care.

Requirements

  • GED or HS Equivalency Diploma.
  • MA: Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
  • LPN: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices (for LPN role).
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
  • Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
  • Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Department leader has determined BLS is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
  • Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.
