About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) – Limited X-Ray supports clinical and administrative operations in a fast-paced urgent care environment, working collaboratively with Medical Providers, Radiologic Technologists, and clinical team members to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The role performs limited-capacity x-ray procedures as permitted under North Carolina regulations and supports patient flow and other clinical and administrative responsibilities in alignment with GoHealth’s mission and values.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Medical Assistant experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or AHA.
Limited Practice Radiographer certificate.
ARRT Limited Scope of Practice in Radiography examination.
Knowledge of urgent care and medical office workflows.
Strong multitasking and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Service-oriented mindset with a strong patient focus.
Proficiency with MS Office and electronic medical record systems.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Nice To Haves

Graduate of a Medical Assisting program.
Experience performing x-rays.
One of the following Medical Assistant certifications: CCMA (NHA), CMA (AAMA), or NCMA (NCCT).

Responsibilities

Perform limited x-ray procedures as permitted under North Carolina regulations, including imaging of upper extremities, lower extremities, and chest.
Position patients properly and apply radiation safety and shielding protocols.
Communicate x-ray results to Medical Providers in a timely manner.
Complete daily equipment checks, quality assurance, and documentation; troubleshoot radiology equipment issues and submit service requests as needed.
Register patients, collect required documentation and insurance information, verify insurance eligibility, and collect co-payments.
Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, answer phones, and respond to patient inquiries.
Prepare patients for examinations, collect medical histories, measure and record vital signs, and perform point-of-care testing such as flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, and HCG.
Communicate patient flow and care needs to providers and team members.
Maintain accurate documentation within the EHR and conduct patient courtesy call-backs.
Perform opening and closing procedures, including cash reconciliation.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical and front-desk areas.
Stock exam rooms and clinical spaces, monitor inventory, submit supply requests, check expiration dates, and ensure proper storage.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
