About The Position

This role involves providing diagnostic information by operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs. The Medical Assistant / Limited X-Ray Tech will establish rapport with patients to understand their service requirements and ensure the smooth operation of radiology equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and inventory management. The position also requires staying updated on legal and professional requirements, maintaining knowledge through educational workshops, and ensuring a safe and clean working environment. Key responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures, minimizing radiation exposure, protecting patients and staff through infection control, and maintaining the quality of radiographs. The role also encompasses administrative and clinical duties under the supervision of a medical provider, promoting communication among care providers, patients, and staff, and attending to patients of all ages. Specific duties include taking patients to rooms, greeting patients, obtaining vital signs, assisting with medical procedures, performing phlebotomy, obtaining lab specimens, handling prior authorizations, adhering to safety and infection guidelines, maintaining electronic medical records, and calculating/administering medications and vaccinations, along with other assigned clerical and clinical duties.

Requirements

  • RT(R) - Registered as a Radiological Technologist or Limited Licensure in Radiology
  • Medical Assistant Diploma
  • BLS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs for diagnosing patient illnesses.
  • Establishes rapport with patients to understand service requirements.
  • Ensures operation of radiology equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Maintains radiology supplies inventory.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuous education and networking.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
  • Reduces patient anxieties, explains treatments, and answers questions.
  • Prepares patients for radiological procedures by positioning them and adjusting equipment.
  • Minimizes radiation exposure to patients and staff using protection techniques.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards.
  • Documents patient care services in patient and department records.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results.
  • Performs administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of a medical provider.
  • Works closely with the physician, assists with direct patient care, and serves as a clinical liaison.
  • Promotes communication among all care providers, patients, and office staff regarding the patient's care plan.
  • Attends to patients utilizing age-appropriate principles of growth and development for all ages.
