About The Position

Leads team members of an assigned area or function by demonstrating and providing advanced knowledge of job responsibilities. This role involves setting a positive example, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, diffusing difficult situations, and problem-solving patient access and throughput challenges. The Lead supports staff during high-volume times, communicates daily challenges to the practice manager, and directs support staff on projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a clinical setting.
  • Basic computer knowledge: MS Word and MS Excel, internet, document with Electronic Health Records and/or authorization system with minimal typing/spelling errors, send e-faxes and email.
  • Strong people skill, independent decision making and customer service oriented.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Annual OSHA Training.
  • This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • It involves a full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients and equipment.
  • Medical Assistants must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds and assist in moving patients weighing up to 300 pounds.
  • The role also includes regular exposure to bodily fluids and demands of adherence to strict safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Has knowledge of EKG, lab, X-ray, holter monitor, accu-check, and spirometry.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Ability to organize work and follow instructions.
  • Must be able maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Must be able to follow policies and procedures and work flexible schedule.
  • Ability to communicate and deal effectively with patients, co-workers, medical staff, visitors and other health care providers.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other office personnel.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Responsibilities

  • Sets a positive example by modeling strong interpersonal skills and professionalism while following all policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all staff are following established policies and procedures to include excellent customer service, professional appearance (dress code) and positive demeanor.
  • Diffuses situations with dissatisfied patients or internal team conflict for positive outcomes.
  • Has the authority to discipline staff when situation/circumstances require immediate intervention for positive outcome to include verbal and written warnings.
  • Problem solving of patient access and throughput based on the daily schedule and its challenges.
  • Supports staff with the daily tasks during high volume times such as check in, check out, answering phones and all the duties related to the office running smoothly.
  • Supports our company policies and reminds staff of our goals and policies.
  • Sets up the Virtual In-Services for the Rep and the Providers.
  • Opens IT tickets when needed, calls for support of techs if services are needed such as printers, phones, and other services which is needed for the office to operate.
  • Communicates with the practice manager clearly of daily challenges and assists in the workflow.
  • Provides direction in the absence of other team members, back fills gaps and break times.
  • Recognizes opportunities of extending lunches or reducing staff at the end of the day to reduce resources and control OT.
  • Directs support staff when projects are in place, (ie. AWV scheduling projects, Follow up appointments, moving patients to clear schedules, etc).
  • Athena support in more complex situations.
  • Perform blood draws competently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
  • Responsible for assisting patients with mobility and transport needs within the clinical setting. Duties include helping patients in and out of wheelchairs or exam tables, escorting or transporting patients to various areas, and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process. Medical Assistants are expected to monitor patients during transport for signs of distress, maintain the cleanliness of transport equipment, and provide emotional support when necessary.
