About The Position

This full-time position is for an experienced Medical Assistant who will also serve as a lead, providing support and coordination within the clinical team. The role involves a mix of direct patient care, administrative tasks, and team leadership. Responsibilities include rooming patients, assisting providers, administering injections, managing documentation in the EMR, sterilizing instruments, triaging patient calls, and managing medication samples. The lead Medical Assistant will also act as a resource for other Medical Assistants, assist with training, coordinate patient flow, and support communication between the MA team and clinic leadership. Additional duties include greeting and checking in patients, managing phone lines and scheduling systems, verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining a clean reception area. The role requires strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills, proficiency in EMR systems, and the ability to mentor and train staff.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of Medical Assistant or clinical experience preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • Proven staff mentorship/training ability.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and collect vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints.
  • Assist providers during examinations, procedures, and in-office treatments.
  • Administer injections and perform point-of-care testing as ordered.
  • Scribe during patient visits and prepare documentation for provider review in the EMR.
  • Verify and prepare patient charts, ensuring labs, imaging, pathology, and referral reports are complete.
  • Sterilize instruments, operate the autoclave, and maintain clean, well-stocked exam rooms, and clinical supplies as well as remove trash at the end of the day.
  • Triage patient clinical calls and respond to EMR tasks, pharmacy coordination, and patient communications.
  • Manage medication samples and inventory in compliance with clinical protocols.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and safety procedures.
  • Serve as a resource for Medical Assistants regarding clinical protocols, workflows, and day-to-day questions.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new Medical Assistants.
  • Help coordinate patient flow and room assignments to support efficiency.
  • Support communication between the MA team and clinic leadership.
  • Escalate workflow or staffing concerns to the Practice Leader as needed.
  • Contribute insights to help improve back-office workflows and patient care processes.
  • Occasionally assist with candidate interviews or shadowing coordination when requested.
  • Greet and check in patients; ensure timely patient flow.
  • Manage multiple phone lines and scheduling systems.
  • Receive referrals and contact patients for scheduling.
  • Provide patients with visit information, estimated charges, and required documentation.
  • Verify patient ID and insurance; assist with forms and billing questions.
  • Collect and record payments (copays, co-insurance, deductibles, and balances).
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and demographics.
  • Keep reception and waiting areas clean, organized, and sanitized.
  • Assist patients in distress and monitor the waiting area for safety.
  • Contribute to team efforts by performing additional tasks, as requested.
