The Medical Assistant - Internal Medicine position at The University of Kansas Health System is responsible for promoting and restoring patient's health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and team members, and providing physical and psychological support to patients and their families. This role practices within the boundaries of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, specialty standards, and organizational/departmental policies and procedures. The Medical Assistant will greet patients, prepare them for examination, record health history, obtain vital signs, administer medications, assist physicians during treatments, ensure accurate chart entries, schedule tests and treatments, arrange referrals, collect specimens, notify patients of test results, and coordinate pre-visit planning. They will also complete necessary forms and obtain physician signatures as appropriate. The position requires the ability to perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
