About The Position

Centura College is seeking a Medical Assistant Instructor to provide subject matter instruction to students in a classroom or lab setting. This role involves teaching assigned classes, creating a welcoming learning environment, and performing administrative functions related to teaching. The instructor will also assist in curriculum development, preparing course materials, and maintaining tools and equipment. Key duties include maintaining academic and attendance records, submitting reports, utilizing retention techniques, completing teacher education modules, attending faculty meetings, and assisting with inventory. The instructor will also monitor student absences and perform other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree if teaching in a degree program.
  • Minimum of 3 years related practical work experience in the subject matter.
  • RMA or CCMA certification.
  • BLS current or within 6 months of hire date.
  • Must demonstrate an up-to-date knowledge and continue study of the subject matter.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented educational environment.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and have the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism.
  • Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Exhibits a positive, team-oriented attitude by remaining flexible and available to work outside of scheduled hours when needed, as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally or overnight occasionally for business.

Responsibilities

  • Teach classes on a regularly scheduled basis assigned and create a welcoming environment for students that is conducive to learning.
  • Assist Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director in developing curriculum, preparing course materials, class scheduling, and maintaining tools and equipment used by students.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom or lab.
  • Establish and maintain academic and attendance records for student files.
  • Submit attendance, grades, student evaluations, and all other reports/documentation to Supervisor or appropriate personnel as required by established procedures.
  • Notify Supervisor of any current or potential issues which warrant immediate attention.
  • Utilize proven retention techniques approved by the school to assist students.
  • Complete performance-based teacher education modules as assigned by Supervisor, based on outcomes of classroom observations, instructor evaluations, and student completed surveys.
  • Attend and/or conduct in-service training, faculty meetings or other mandatory meetings.
  • Assist with the department equipment and supplies inventory and submit replenishment requests to Supervisor or appropriate personnel.
  • Alert Supervisor to student absences, especially on first, third and fifth absence occurrences.
  • Perform and complete other tasks that may be assigned by the Supervisor.
