Assists in the examination and treatment of patients by tracking patient information, documenting the medical record, assisting with in-office procedures and testing, administering medications and providing patient and caregiver education. Duties are performed under the oversight and direction of professional clinical staff and providers as outlined in the Clinical Support Staff Scope of Practice document. This role assumes additional duties beyond the MA-II level, including assisting providers with more complex patient care issues, serving as a consistent MA preceptor for new and existing MAs, assisting with ongoing training of existing staff, identifying skill gaps, completing annual clinical proficiency assessments, updating procedure manuals, creating and managing workflows, acting as a system superuser, performing designated responsibilities related to regulatory oversight of the lab, representing the office at clinical leadership meetings, and serving as a resource for staff engaged in similar functions. The role requires creating a positive, professional, service-oriented work environment, working effectively as a team member, adhering to IHA standards and policies, maintaining knowledge of office services and systems, ensuring patient and employee confidentiality, and embracing new ideas and cultural differences.
