About The Position

UI Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a 60%-80% Medical Assistant II to work for the Presurgical Evaluation Clinic. Requirements

  • Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology ( include educational transcripts during application process )

  • Candidates must upload copy of their educational transcripts if they are not certified/registered as a Medical Assistant or if they have not completed a Medical Assistant Program.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating the smooth flow of patients through the clinic through interaction with patients, families, and staff.
  • Ensuring an efficient rooming process for patients, including but not limited to obtaining vital signs, patient history, medication records, allergies, and immunizations.
  • Assisting in clinic with physical examination of patients and related treatments.
  • Management of internal and external medical records to ensure that accurate and complete data is available for patient appointments.
  • Obtaining routine laboratory samples such as urinalysis and blood work, as needed.
  • Performing related clerical tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing information to other departments.
  • Working closely with Central Sterile team to ensure delivery of reusable instruments for processing, accounting for return of all instruments to clinic, monitoring reports, and supporting organization of new instruments.
  • Stocking supplies, stocking rooms, and monitoring expirations.
  • Performing daily, weekly, monthly audits.
  • Supporting strong patient experience metrics by providing high quality and patient centered care.
