The Medical Assistant (MA) provides compassionate and individualized care to inpatients and outpatients, and clinical assistance to providers of patients scheduled for cardiac ultrasound testing, as well as assist other staff to ensure an efficient quality and safety-based work flow. Maintains neat, clean and safe patient care areas; maintains supply inventory ensuring proper par levels and product expiration. Provides efficient set-up and turnover of procedure room between patients and maintains positive patient interaction while providing safe patient care. This role is key in facilitating department flow by rooming patients, taking vital signs, performing EKG’s, and other skilled tasks such as providing ongoing administrative support to clinic operations. Must possess knowledge of clinic-based procedures, including standard precautions, utilization of specialized equipment and instrument cleaning and setup. Understanding of office routines, patient check-in/discharge processes and information systems as needed. Requires discretion and judgment to organize priorities, complete tasks and handle confidential patient information. Summary: The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.
