About The Position

We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and team-oriented Medical Assistant II team members to support the Pediatric Cardiology (PCI) department at Riley. Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, you will perform clinical and administrative duties to deliver exceptional patient care. This role involves ensuring efficient patient flow, supporting clinical procedures, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Current certification in Medical Assisting from one of the following organizations: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Healthcareer Association (CCMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare workers required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA standards required.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required.
  • TB validation (to administer or read) preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Familiarity with Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work concepts within 6 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures, insurance plans, and third-party payers.
  • Ability to master clinical competencies per current policies and checklists.
  • Basic math skills and proficiency in accurate data collection and entry required.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program

  • Familiarity with Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work concepts within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and clinical support in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Complete ordered procedures and treatments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support smooth patient flow and coordinate care activities.
  • Perform general laboratory work and support clinical documentation.
  • Inform and instruct patients regarding procedures, treatments, and needs.
  • Perform registration, scheduling, and maintain EMR files.
  • Support front office functions such as patient check-in and check-out as needed.
  • May perform computerized physician order entry when directed by the physician.
  • Precept current MA team members or externs as requested by leadership.
