About The Position

Columbus Primary And Specialty Care is seeking a Medical Assistant II to join their team. This role involves preparing and maintaining exam rooms, supporting patient flow by rooming patients, obtaining medical histories and vital signs, performing EKGs and point-of-care testing, and documenting patient care in the EPIC EMR. The Medical Assistant will also assist providers with procedures, patient communication, referrals, prior authorizations, appointment scheduling, and coordination of testing and follow-up care. The position requires building and maintaining positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff while delivering high-quality care within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Required Program Medical Assisting (In lieu of program, 5 years of medical assistant experience)
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association - within 90 days of hire
  • One of the following certifications within 6 months of hire: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Allied Health or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Performance Specialists (NPS)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms and treatment areas, including cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking supplies to ensure patient readiness
  • Support efficient patient flow by rooming patients, obtaining medical histories, vital signs, medication reconciliation, EKGs, and point-of-care testing as directed
  • Accurately document patient care, communications, and clinical activities in EPIC EMR and other required systems
  • Assist providers with procedures, patient communication, referrals, prior authorizations, appointment scheduling, and coordination of testing and follow-up care
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff while delivering high-quality care within the Medical Assistant scope of practice
