About The Position

Franciscan Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II Float for their Physician Practice at the Michigan City Campus. This role is crucial for supporting a variety of clinical duties across multiple ambulatory clinics. The Medical Assistant Floats will assist providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, executing physician orders for lab testing, entering information into the electronic medical record system, and serving as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Program Medical Assisting or 5 years of medical assistant experience in lieu of program
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Allied Health, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Registry of Medical Assistants, Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients
  • Taking vitals
  • Obtaining a comprehensive medical history
  • Documenting patient care via electronic medical record
  • Administering vaccines, injections, and medications
  • Phlebotomy
  • Performing point of care testing
  • Performing medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider
  • Gathering requirements from internal and external customers and providing information via phone, electronic messaging, and in person
  • Initiating and following through on prior authorizations, referrals, and processing sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed
